Tesoro Petroleum Corp., an independent refiner and marketer, signed an agreement with Brookfield, Conn.-based Additech Inc. to use the technology firm's fuel additive and advertising system at fuel pumps in Othello, Wash.
The initial agreement covers a Tesoro Mirastar convenience store at a Wal-Mart supercenter. Tesoro operates 46 Mirastar stations, a brand developed exclusively for Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc., at select Wal-Mart locations on the West Coast. This is the first agreement for Additech in any West Coast market.
"This is just one more way of providing innovative and valuable services to our customers," said Steve Rucker, manager of brands and advertising for San Antonio-based Tesoro Petroleum Corp. "We are expecting Additech's technology to be a true convenience for our customers."
Mirastar customers can now purchase STP On Tap fuel additives at the pump by simply pressing a button. The system automatically injects a 12-ounce dose of the selected product -- either STP Gas Treatment or STP Super Concentrated Fuel Injector Cleaner -- during fueling.
The system is also equipped to run full-motion video advertising on its screen while the pump is running.
