ROCKLAND, Mass. -- Tedeschi Food Shops is installing NCR Corp.'s Blockbuster Express-branded DVD rental kiosks at its 188 convenience stores in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
Blockbuster Express is currently available in 89 Tedeschi Food Shop locations. By the end of October, it is anticipated that 27 more locations will be deployed, with the remainder of the Tedeschi chain to be installed by the end of this year.
According to NCR, its Blockbuster Express DVD kiosk rental experience offers consumers the widest selection of new release and classic DVDs available through conveniently located kiosks. The kiosks hold more than 900 DVDs.
"Tedeschi Food Shops prides itself in its ongoing quest to be the destination of convenience. By partnering with NCR to add Blockbuster Express kiosks in our locations, we have ensured our customers add convenient and affordable entertainment as additional reasons to shop our stores. Our decision to partner with NCR follows a careful evaluation of other similar services in this space. We believe NCR has the most compelling vision for delivering entertainment conveniently and efficiently to consumers," said Joe Hamza, Tedeschi's vice president of sales and marketing.
No membership is required to rent a DVD at the kiosks -- customers simply swipe their credit card and are charged $1 per night until they return the DVD.
Tedeschi Food Shops provides its customers with a family of quality proprietary brands, including TD's Deli and TD's Express, Tedeschi Select and Tedeschi Fuel.
