Stagnito Media Acquires Private Label Media Group

Convenience Store News’ parent enhances its position as America’s fastest-growing integrated media company for food and non-food retailers.

DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Stagnito Media, based in Deerfield, Ill., announced today that it has acquired Private Label, Private Label International and Private Label China magazines, and their related products from E.W. Williams Publications Co., Fort Lee, N.J.

Stagnito Media, America's fastest growing integrated media company serving food and non-food retailers, publishes the industry-leading Store Brands magazine as well as other leading brands such as Convenience Store News, Progressive Grocer, The Gourmet Retailer, and Retail Leader.

Launched by E.W. Williams in 1979, Private Label magazine under the direction of Andrew Williams was the innovator in the private label industry. Private Label and Store Brands will be merged into one superior information franchise for the rapidly expanding retail store brands market. The new title will be named Private Label ⇨ Store Brands. It will take advantage of the trend where more consumers are purchasing store brand products.

"We're excited by the opportunity to combine these highly recognized and respected properties into one powerful profit center," said Harry Stagnito, president and CEO, Stagnito Media. "And they provide us with the store brands foundation to build an international platform of magazines, websites, digital products, events and original research. These brands are a perfect fit for the rest of our retail-driven portfolio, and this acquisition continues our investment in extending our reach in the retail market."

Steven Lichtenstein, vice president/group publisher, will continue to manage the new entity.

Stagnito Media is a portfolio company of Long Island, N.Y.-based Topspin Partners, LBO.
