DENVER -- Quiznos has inked a deal with Vermont-based Champlain Farms to open its quick-service restaurants (QSR) in 40 locations across the New England state. This partnership is another step in Quiznos' plan to grow its presence in convenience stores, which also calls for teaming up with strong regional c-store operators.
The initial launch will include 10 locations, with the first opening next month. The new Quiznos restaurants will be in Champlain Farms stores near high-frequented locations such as colleges and universities, interstate exits and tourist destinations.
"As a locally owned company, Champlain Farms brings unparalleled insight into the region and the local convenience customer. This local expertise, combined with exceptional operations, made Champlain Farms the ideal partner to extend our convenience store offering and best meet [the] regional needs in the Northeast," said Shultz Hartgrove, senior vice president of convenience and non-traditional development for Quiznos. "The partnership with Champlain Farms marks the continued success of our convenience store growth strategy."
The new locations will feature a menu geared toward the c-store customer and retailer, according to a company release. Items will include Quiznos' signature toasted favorites and hot breakfast items prepared and packaged to eat on the go. The QSR developed its convenience store menu based on customer and partner feedback to appeal to customers throughout all dayparts.
"The Quiznos brand and distinctive, flavorful menu was a perfect fit for our foodservice needs," stated Dave Simendinger, president of Champlain Farms. "We are proud of our commitment to quality and sought a strong quick-service partner to complement our strong convenience stores. We know Champlain Farms customers will be attracted by Quiznos' brand recognition and appetizing menu."
The pairing with Champlain Farms is just the latest deal for Quiznos, which has been making inroads in the convenience store arena lately. Earlier this year, Quiznos signed an agreement with Hess Corp. to open more than 50 restaurants in Hess gas stations/convenience stores in Florida.
