Ohio Speedway Stations Win Alternative Fuel Grants

CINCINNATI -- Out of 12 fuel retailers that were awarded grants through Ohio's Alternative Fuel Transportation program, nine of them were Speedway stations, according to a report in the Cincinnati Business Courier.

The most recent location to be awarded a grant was a Mount Healthy, Ohio, Speedway station. The nine Speedway stores received grants of $20,000 each for the purchase of fuel equipment to make biodiesel and ethanol-based fuel such as E85 available to the public. The other Speedway stations are located in Columbus, Fairborn, Kettering, Wadsworth, Garfield Heights, Springfield and Macedonia, Ohio.

Three other fuel retailers in Parma, Portsmouth and Sylvania, Ohio, received $20,000 each, the newspaper stated.

In addition, two companies, Circleville Oil in Circleville, Ohio, and American Ag Fuels in Dayton, Ohio, each received $180,000 to upgrade their biodiesel blending facilities.

Grant recipients were chosen by the Ohio Department of Development.
