HOUSTON — CITGO Petroleum Corp. and several of its local marketers are working to boost customer loyalty with various promotions, sweepstakes and giveaways across the United States.
In Indiana, CITGO and its local marketer Uebelhor Oil Co. crowned the latest winner in the Club CITGO Free Gas Giveaway sweepstakes at the Sunset CITGO station in Jasper, Ind.
Sherri Veatch of Huntingburg, Ind., was awarded the grand prize of a year's supply of fuel in the form of $2,500 in CITGO gift cards on Sept. 24 after she was randomly selected among the customers who downloaded the Club CITGO app.
Veatch was diagnosed with a rare liver disease in 2013, which requires her to travel hundreds of miles to and from Indianapolis for medical appointments each month so the CITGO gift cards will help with the cost of travel.
"We were honored to present Sherri with this wonderful prize," said Steve Uebelhor, president of Uebelhor Oil. "We are pleased that the Club CITGO sweepstakes has helped such a wonderful and deserving member of the community. We hope that the fuel contribution will ease some of Sherri's stress and help her and her family with their long trips across the state."
One more randomly selected grand-prize winner will be chosen in October as part of the sweepstakes.
In Massachusetts, consumers have the chance to "Win With CITGO" when they visit neighborhood CITGO locations during a pilot promotion running through Nov. 21.
Consumers scan the QR code found on point-of-purchase materials displayed at the CITGO locations, download the Win With CITGO app and enter for a chance to win one of three prizes: a trip for two to Venezuela, a year's worth of TriCLEAN gasoline or a $50 CITGO gift card.
"Consumers have many choices when it comes to gasoline brands, so we're always looking for ways to keep them coming back to our brand," said Alan Flagg, assistant vice president of supply and marketing for Houston-based CITGO. "While we want to drive more traffic to our locations with this promotion, we also want to reward our customers with the chance to win some really great prizes. It's definitely a win-win with CITGO."
During the six-week promotion, 100 consumers will win a $50 CITGO gift card; three consumers will win a year's supply of TriCLEAN gasoline (or the equivalent of $2,500 in CITGO gift cards); and five consumers will win an all-inclusive trip for two to Venezuela where they will visit Margarita Island, Los Roques and Canaima.
Also available on the Win With CITGO app is a trivia game where consumers can answer questions about CITGO, Margarita Island, Los Roques and Canaima. One correct answer enters each player into a separate sweepstakes for a chance to win a $20 CITGO gift card.
CITGO and its local marketer American Gas and Oil recently awarded the grand prize of the Good Stuff Giveaway. Michelle Wolf of Cedar Springs, Mich., received a year’s supply of fuel in the form of $2,500 in CITGO gift cards at the Burton CITGO station in Wyoming, Mich., on Oct. 8.
“We recently converted 19 of our locally owned gas stations to the CITGO brand and the Good Stuff Giveaway was a wonderful way to celebrate the new look,” said Jason Berris, president of American Gas and Oil. “The promotion has been a great way to encourage customers to visit our new CITGO locations. We are pleased to reward some of our lucky community members with high-quality fuel.”
From July 15 through Aug. 26, customers in the Grand Rapids and St. Joseph areas could visit their local participating CITGO station to retrieve a promotional code to be entered for a chance to win $100 CITGO gift cards and a year’s supply of fuel. Each week of the six-week campaign, 10 lucky customers were selected to receive $100 for a total of 60 instant winners. Wolf was selected as the grand-prize winner.
“We know consumers have choices and we appreciate when they choose a locally owned CITGO station,” said Flagg. “This promotion is another way for us to help our CITGO marketers and retailers show how much they value their customers. We hope that the Good Stuff Giveaway winners will enjoy their TriCLEAN fuel and continue to shop at their local CITGO.”
CITGO and its local marketers in Wisconsin have teamed up for the Battle of the Bays sweepstakes to give three fans the ultimate game day experience.
Between now and Nov. 15, Wisconsin football fans can visit participating CITGO locations in Milwaukee, Green Bay and Madison to fill out an entry form for the chance to win two tickets to see the Green Bay Packers play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa Bay on Dec. 21. Roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations are included in the prize.
"So many of our customers are big football fans," said Brian Frawley, wholesale manager at Frawley Oil Co., a Wisconsin-based CITGO marketer. "We are excited to send a lucky few to the game down in Florida and help them get away from the harsh Wisconsin winter. We are so thankful to all of our customers and we are excited to reward them with these football tickets and a fun trip."
