Barrick Enterprises, CITGO Help Clean Up Detroit

DETROIT -- Local CITGO marketer Barrick Enterprises Inc. and CITGO Petroleum Corp. teamed up to clean up the H A&Z CITGO station located here at 1841 E. State Fair.

More than 20 community members and Barrick employees removed graffiti, painted buildings and planted flowers at the gas station. The clean-up effort is part of Barrick's mission to revamp the Detroit community by enhancing local gas stations.

“We were eager to host this cleanup project,” said Greg Barrick, vice president of Barrick Enterprises. “The local communities have become so involved in cleaning up the Detroit neighborhoods. This was the perfect opportunity to do our part. This project was a great success and we hope to plan more cleanup events like this at our other Detroit area locations.”

Founded in 1977, Barrick Enterprises is a family-owned and -operated wholesaler and retailer of petroleum products. It operates and supplies more than 240 gas stations in southeast Michigan, including 48 CITGO stations.

Houston-based CITGO is a refiner, transporter and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and other industrial products. The company is owned by PDV America Inc., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela S.A., the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
