    Nestle Recalls Cookie Dough

    Toll House refrigerated dough products linked to E. coli outbreak.

    NEW YORK -- Food maker Nestle USA’s baking division is initiating a voluntary recall of Nestle Toll House refrigerated cookie dough products.

    The recall comes after the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control began an investigation into 66 incidents of E. coli-related illness, in which a number of consumers reported getting sick after consuming raw Nestle’s Toll House cookie dough.

    The company advises consumers not to buy any Toll House refrigerated Cookie Bar Dough, Cookie Dough Tub, Cookie Dough Tube, Seasonal Cookie Dough, Limited Edition Cookie Dough items and Ultimates Cookie Bar Dough. Nestle advises those who have bought the cookie dough not to eat it, and that they should be returned to their local grocer for a full refund.

    Retailers, restaurateurs and other food-service personnel are also advised not to sell or serve Nestle Toll House cookie dough products.

    Packaging for these products already includes warnings that raw cookie dough should not be eaten, and Nestle. The Food and Drug Administration reiterated this in press statements as well.

    In the company’s statement to the press, Nestle said it will continue to cooperate with the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control, and stated no other Nestle Toll House products are impacted, including Toll House morsels, chocolate baking bars or cocoa.
