GAUTIER, Miss. -- The Baker family, owners of Slidell Oil Co., had one objective in mind when they came up with the name and overall concept for The Purple Cow Convenience Store — to stand out. Their inspiration was a book titled “Purple Cow” that addresses how to become remarkable in business and stand out from the crowd. In author Seth Godin’s words, a purple cow is “worth talking about. Worth noticing. Exceptional. New. Interesting.”
