LAS VEGAS — Terrible Herbst Inc. is replacing the existing point-of-sale (POS) systems at all 108 of its convenience stores with the Gilbarco Veeder-Root Passport POS system and Impulse upselling platform.
According to Gilbarco, Terrible Herbst selected its platform for reliability, flexible merchandising functionality, and availability on the Chevron network. Passport will also allow Terrible Herbst to streamline its EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) upgrades.
"We're known for our out-of-the-box customer giveaways and promotions," said Terrible Herbst's Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mark Walters. "Passport and Impulse are proven solutions that will make them even more targeted and effective."
Passport POS is known for its streamlined design and easy-to-use touchscreen intended to shorten new employee training time and speed up the time it takes to serve customers.
The Impulse countertop merchandising platform uses a proprietary affinity engine that monitors POS transactions in real-time.
"The Impulse upselling platform has led to sales increases of 3-5 percent for our customers," said Gilbarco's Vice President of Marketing, North America, Travis Bouck. "Impulse allows Terrible Herbst to control their promotions, delivering relevant content that drives their customers to purchase additional items in-store."
Greensboro, N.C.-based Gilbarco Veeder-Root offers a broad range of integrated solutions from the forecourt to the convenience store and head office.
In addition to its convenience store operations, Las Vegas-based Terrible Herbst operates more than 40 car washes and 21 lube locations.
