    Thorntons Selects New Marketing Agency

    Scoppechio recently helped launch the Refreshing Rewards program.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Thorntons Inc. has named Scoppechio (formerly known as Creative Alliance), an independent, full-service advertising agency in Louisville, as its agency of record.

    Scoppechio will provide strategic solutions for Thorntons that span an array of services, including traditional broadcast and print, digital (online and mobile), social media and experiential marketing. In addition, the agency offers a robust multicultural marketing resource, according to Thursday’s announcement.   

    “We are excited about this new partnership,” said Jeff Keune, chief marketing officer for the Louisville-based convenience store retailer. “Thorntons is constantly innovating and doing new things to differentiate ourselves from the competition and create loyal customers. We look forward to collaborating with Scoppechio to help us effectively market these differences to support our growth.”

    Most recently, Scoppechio helped successfully launch the Thorntons Refreshing Rewards program. This multi-tier rewards concept is dedicated to building brand advocates across everything that Thorntons has to offer inside and outside the store. The program was initially tested in Lexington, Ky., and Nashville, Tenn., earlier this year, and is now available at all Thorntons locations.

    "This new program offers many levels of rewards to our dedicated customers,” Keune said. “Members enjoy premium perks on every level of the program, including 10 cents off every gallon of gas for the first 30 days after registering your card."

    With more than $2.3 billion in annual revenue, Thorntons ranks as one of Kentucky’s largest privately held companies. The retailer has 179 gasoline and convenience stores, car washes and travel plazas in six states: Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Florida. 

    “Everyone in the agency is really excited about teaming up with Thorntons,” said Scoppechio President and Chief Operating Officer Toni Clem. “Our retail and restaurant experience has given us deep insights into daypart marketing, new product development and expanding core customer audiences. Thorntons will get our best people to support their ambitious plans. ”
