NACS Campaign Puts Congressman to Work as C-store Clerks

SALT LAKE CITY-- Utah residents will find surprising faces behind the counter when they visit two area convenience stores this week.

As part of a campaign launched by NACS, the Association for Convenience & Fuel Retailing, two congressman will be rolling up their sleeves for their own version of "A Day in the Life" of a convenience store.

U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop (R-Utah) took his place behind the register at the Maverik convenience store in Pleasant Grove from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, while U.S. Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) is preparing for his turn at the checkout counter at the Maverik store in Farmington from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.

These sightings are part of a NACS campaign to highlight how much Americans rely on convenience stores for gas, snacks and drinks, the newspaper reported.
