7-Eleven Continues Disaster Relief Support

DALLAS -- In honor of Red Cross Month, 7-Eleven Inc. said its stores are serving as official donation sites for the American Red Cross "Your Help Counts" customer donation program.

Cash donations and spare change placed in canisters by customers at participating U.S. 7-Eleven stores during March and April will be donated to local Red Cross Chapters nationwide.

"7-Eleven has recently worked closely with the Red Cross to raise money for national efforts, and when we learned that the focus of Red Cross Month was on the everyday services of local chapters, we were ready to help," said Jim Keyes, 7-Eleven president and CEO. "It is important to build the resources of local Red Cross chapters, and lending the power of our national canister program will help chapters continue to respond to emergencies and disasters in our communities."

7-Eleven, operator of more than 5,800 convenience stores in North America, introduced its canister program in 1976. The company began placing canisters on its store counters to create awareness of and raise funds for select charities. Over the last 26 years, the store canister campaigns have raised more than $95 million. Most recently, 7-Eleven raised more than $2 million for the American Red Cross Liberty Fund to provide support to victims of the Sept. 11 tragedy.
