Budweiser Honors the St. Louis Cardinals with Commemorative Bottles

ST. LOUIS -- Anheuser-Busch (A-B) is recognizing its home team, the St. Louis Cardinals, with a limited edition magnum and aluminum bottles for the holiday season. A-B has been a partner of the baseball team -- which won the World Series Championship in 2006 -- for more than 50 years.

In addition, A-B made a $100,000 donation to the St. Louis Cardinals Care Foundation, which benefits area youth through outreach programs and financial grants.

"Budweiser is a proud supporter of the Cardinals -- these attractive and distinguished bottles recognize their momentous victory in the new Busch Stadium," said Randall Blackford, director of the Budweiser brand. "They are the perfect holiday gift for adult fans, and will be enjoyed as keepsakes for years to come."

The 46.5-ounce magnum bottle features the Cardinal's 2006 World Series Champions logo on the front. On the back, there is a summary of the World Series. The magnum is sold in a red and blue box that features the Cardinal's and World Series 2006 logos. The aluminum bottles are sold in 15-packs of specially labeled cases featuring images of the themed bottles.

Both packages will be available in the greater St. Louis area immediately and will be reintroduced in March, when the baseball season is underway.

The Budweiser brand is the Official Beer of Major League Baseball, the World Series and 26 baseball teams, including the Cardinal's.

In other A-B news, company subsidiary Long Tail Libations, Inc., made its first venture into the spirits category with the debut of Jekyll & Hyde premium liqueur. The product combines two different flavors of liqueur that can be mixed when poured.

The Jekyll liqueur is scarlet red and has a sweet aroma and wild berry taste. In contrast, the black Hyde liqueur has a spicy scent, licorice flavor and floats on top of the Jekyll liqueur. The combination of both flavors makes a multi-layered shot. Jekyll liqueur is 30 percent alcohol by volume, while Hyde is 40 percent alcohol by volume.

To make a shot, first pour the Jekyll liqueur, then top it with an equal part of Hyde liqueur. Both flavors are bottled individually, so that the flavors can be consumed separately as well.
