Brew Thru Brews Up Franchise Deals

CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. -- Brew Thru, which bills itself as the Outer Banks’ original Drive Thru Convenience Store, opened the doors to its first franchise here. The new Brew Thru opened May 1 at 910 N. Lake Park Blvd., on the main road to the beach.

Literally, a drive-in convenience store, customers pull right into the building and get what they need from the seat of their cars, StarNews Online reported.

From the name, one can guess that beer is the staple of the inventory. Brew Thru has its own beer, Big D's Brew, available in a summer ale or lager. But shoppers can also purchase non-alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, cigars, over-the-counter medicine, suntan lotion, surfboard wax, as well a wide selection of Brew Thru merchandise.

The grand opening is scheduled to take place June 6-7. Customers can get a free beverage koozie when they buy a Brew Thru T-shirt, according to the StarNews report.

Brew Thru has become an Outer Banks tradition over the last 32 years. In addition to its new franchised location, the chain has five convenient corporate locations spanning from Corolla to Nags Head, N.C. A second Brew Thru franchise—and the first out of North Carolina—is in development and set to open in spring 2010 in Panama City, Fla.
