AAFES Marks Anniversary With Gas Discount

Holders of the Military Star Card or Rewards MasterCard will see a 16-cent savings July 25 to 27.

DALLAS -- One hundred and sixteen years after the War Department issued General Order 46 directing all commanders to establish an Exchange at every post, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) is celebrating its anniversary by offering a discount at the pump.

In honor of the milestone, holders of the Military Star Card or Rewards MasterCard will receive 16 cents off per gallon July 25 through July 27. Cardholders already receive a 5-cent-per-gallon discount when filling up at the Exchange.

"It is our way of saying thanks," explained AAFES Acting Chief of Staff Col. Colice Powell. "If it were not for the war fighters of the United States military, the Exchange would not be where it is today."

Military members can apply for the Military Star Card and Rewards MasterCard through the Exchange’s website, shopmyexchange.com. AAFES is also helping service members save more with the new addition of the Coupons and SUPER Savings tab on its Facebook page.
