DALLAS -- 7-Eleven Inc., which operates approximately 5,800 stores in the United States and Canada, reported total November sales of $989.7 million, an increase of 15.2 percent over the November 2003 total of $859.2 million. Total merchandise sales for November were $624.6 million, an increase of 5.4 percent over the November 2003 total of $592.3 million. U.S. same-store merchandise sales for November increased 4.1 percent, on top of a 3.1 percent increase in November 2003.
Gasoline sales for November were $365.1 million, a 36.8 percent increase compared to $266.9 million in the prior-year period. Average gallons sold per store increased 4.4 percent in November compared to the November 2003 result. The average retail price of gasoline for November was $2.02, compared to $1.54 in November 2003.
The following compares year-to-date results through November to the same period last year:
* U.S. same-store merchandise sales increased 5.2 percent, on top of a 3.5 percent increase for 2003.
* Merchandise sales were $7.26 billion, an increase of 6.1 percent.
* Gasoline sales totaled $3.89 billion, an increase of 24.2 percent.
* Average gallons sold per store increased 5.7 percent.
