NEW YORK -- Five leading retailers in their respective channels will be honored in April with the first annual Store-Specific Merchandising & Marketing (SAMMY) Awards.
SAMMY awards will be presented to the retailer in each channel that best demonstrates innovation in developing merchandising and marketing programs aimed at multicultural markets; and innovation in developing merchandising and marketing programs aimed at age-specific demographics of the U.S. population, such as kids, ?tweens, teens, boomers, and seniors.
The inaugural SAMMYs will be presented at this year's Store-Specific Merchandising and Marketing Conference , being held April 10-12 at Disney's Grand Floridian Hotel in Orlando, Fla.
Convenience Store News Executive Editor Mike Browne will present the SAMMY Award to 7-Eleven April 11. Also being honored are Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in the mass merchandiser category, Piggly Wiggly in supermarkets, CVS Corp. for drugstore retailers and Family Dollar for dollar-store retailers.
