Yoo-hoo Lite Gets a Facelift

Yoo-hoo Chocolate Beverage Corp. this month is rolling out Yoo-hoo Lite with half the calories of regular Yoo-hoo with new packaging and American Heart Association certification for its vitamin fortification.

A platinum background and yellow starburst make the trademark blue Yoo-hoo logo stand out while "half the calories" is declared in blazing red. The new Yoo-hoo Lite packaging began hitting stores in southeastern markets last week.

The American Heart Association's distinctive red heart with the white check mark appears on the new Yoo-hoo Lite packaging indicating that the product is low in saturated fat and cholesterol and may be part of an overall heart-healthy diet. Yoo-hoo Lite is a low sodium product that provides 10 percent of the recommended daily allowances of iron, calcium and vitamins A, C and D.

Plus, Yoo-hoo Lite is 99-percent fat free, according to Kristin Krumpe, director of marketing for Yoo-hoo.

"Yoo-hoo Lite is a chocoholics dream -- it's low in calories and tastes the same as regular Yoo-hoo," Krumpe said. "The new packaging will help consumers easily differentiate between Yoo-hoo Lite and regular Yoo-hoo."
