Wrigley Sells North American Trolli Business

The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. has agreed to sell the North American trademark rights to the Trolli gummy candy brand and it's associated production facility to Farley's & Sathers Candy Co. Terms are not being disclosed.

The two companies will work on transitioning the business, including customer notification, over the coming weeks, with an expectation the transaction will close by mid-December.

"Our intent to divest Trolli was announced when we closed on the acquisition of several confectionery brands from Kraft Foods in June," said Peter Hempstead, senior vice president, worldwide strategy & new business. "This move is part of the integration of that acquisition and the related realignment of Wrigley's North American supply chain, which is progressing according to plan."

The factory, in Creston, Iowa, has approximately 150 employees, who will transfer with the business.
