Wayne Oil Co. Automates, Optimizes Fuel

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Wayne Oil Co. of Goldsboro, N.C., chose KSS Inc. and its PriceNet and PriceNet Web systems to automate and optimize fuel price management at the chain's 13 locations across the Southeastern United States, the vendor reported.

"As a member of the BP Jobber Board, we want a disciplined pricing process that can provide better business intelligence and price optimization," said John Strickland Jr., president of Wayne Oil. "In addition, each of our sites has unique characteristics, so we needed a solution that could not only provide general pricing support across our enterprise, but could also meet the individual needs of our stores. KSS and its PriceNet solution provide those benefits and more."

Wayne Oil is using the application service provider (ASP) model of PriceNet, meaning the retailer receives the primary benefits of a site-licensed version of the product via the Internet, but doesn't have to invest in the additional upfront hardware and networking required when implementing the full product, KSS reported.

"Wayne Oil has long had a reputation of providing quality fuel and services to consumers in the Southeast, and we're excited that they have selected PriceNet and PriceNet mobile," said Bob Stein, president and CEO of KSS. "We'll ensure that our pricing systems help them gain a competitive advantage in their market by providing the information and resources needed to make timely and accurate pricing decisions."

PriceNet supports the key tasks and stakeholders involved in retail fuels pricing, from capturing field-based intelligence at the site level to the generation of price proposals, via comprehensive pricing rules or price optimization, to consistent and timely implementation. High levels of automation and an "exception-based" approach ensure a rapid response to competitors and market conditions and allow pricing analysts to leverage the power of pricing analytics, the vendor reported.

Additionally, PriceNet Web facilitates exchange of data between field offices and the head office to allow review and authorization of price adjustments more quickly at a local level. It is fully integrated with PriceNet, requiring only a PC and Internet access for use.
