Wawa Supports Healthy Hearts
PHILADELPHIA -- Wawa Inc. is stepping up its support of the American Heart Association by sponsoring the 2008 Start! Philadelphia Heart Walk.
In addition to serving as the event's major local food sponsor and presenter of "Eat Street" food area, about 100 Wawa associates will be participating in the walk to raise funds and healthy heart awareness.
"We are proud to support the American Hearth Association Start! Philadelphia Heart Walk and we are equally proud of our Wawa associates who have formed teams to walk to show their support in finding a cure for heart disease and stroke," said Howard Stoeckel, Wawa president and CEO. "This is a very important commitment to us and we are pleased to provide great food and beverages for the walkers and their families during this event."
Wawa's sponsorship includes a monetary grant from the Wawa Charities Fund and Wawa products, including 2,500 soft pretzels, 1,500 bagels, 1,000 containers of apple slices, 1,500 muffins, 2,000 hot beverages and 1,000 bottles of teas and juices. Wawa is the exclusive water provider, giving more than 4,000 16-ounce bottles of Wawa water.
