Wawa Plans for Six More Florida Stores

ORLANDO, Fla. -- With five new stores set to open in five weeks, Wawa is focusing on its next set of locations. The Pennsylvania-based retailer is planning to open six more Central Florida convenience stores, reports the Orlando Business Journal.

Some of the new stores are slated to open on currently vacant sites, while others will reportedly be built after existing structures are demolished.

Estimated construction costs for the new stores approach $5 million, according to the report.

The new locations indicate the company is on track to meet its aggressive growth goal for Florida. Wawa officials previously stated they expect to open 20 stores in 2013 and referred to the state as its "new home."

Wawa Inc. currently operates more than 595 convenience stores in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
