Wawa Celebrates 35th Anniversary of Pennsville Township Store

PENNSVILLE TWP., N.J. -- Wawa Inc.'s 2 Carroll Ave. store located here will mark a company milestone by celebrating its 35th anniversary.

"We are thrilled to recommit ourselves to the communities we serve and feel these Wawaversaries are a great way to say thank you to our customers and associates, and let them know we are more committed than ever to our long-standing community partnerships," Howard Stoeckel, Wawa's president and CEO said in a released statement. "This year, the Wawaversaries will also celebrate the positive impact of Wawa's in-store fundraising efforts and acknowledge the important support that Wawa's associates and customers have always offered to local and corporate-wide community organizations."

To mark the momentous occasion a celebration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 17, NJ.com reported. The special anniversary will be marked by Wawa renewing its vows to the community through a wedding-inspired, in-store celebration. Wedding-themed decorations include a gigantic coffee cup cake made from Wawa coffee cups with Wawa's mascot, Wally Goose, dressed in a tuxedo on top of the cake. Customers and associates will be given red foam hearts and Wally and The Honkers will serenade guests, the Web site reported.

Other festivities include free coffee all day.

Wawa will also present a $55,700 check to Check Out Hunger, an area food bank that Wawa raised money for through the recently concluded New Jersey Wawa in-store Check Out Hunger campaign. A representative from the Community Food Bank of Southern New Jersey will be there to accept the check on behalf of Check Out Hunger statewide, NJ.com added.

Wawa will also use the celebration time to honor longtime customers and associates.
