VPS C-store Group Raises $85,000-Plus for Boy Scouts

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- VPS Convenience Store Group announced that it raised more than $85,000 in support of the Boy Scouts of America, Cape Fear Council at its 28th Annual Summer Swing Golf Tournament and Auction.

More than 175 attendees took part in the auction, which was held at the Holiday Inn Resort at Wrightsville Beach on Tuesday, and the golf tournament, which was held Wednesday at the Magnolia Greens Golf Plantation in Leland, as CSNews Online reported.

"We look forward to this event each year to show our support for the Boy Scouts," said Jeff Turpin, chairman and CEO of VPS. "It's a terrific partnership and we are very proud as a company that we have such a long-standing commitment to our local scouts. With the help of our vendor partners, we have raised more than a million dollars and counting."

The annual tournament is the largest fundraising event in the history of the Cape Fear Council Scouting program, according to the company. This Boy Scouts program covers an eight-county area of southeastern North Carolina.

VPS Convenience Store Group operates locations under the Scotchman, Village Pantry, Lil Cricket, Young's, Next Door Stores and Everyday Shops banners.
