Valero Stores Participate in MDA Campaign

SAN ANTONIO -- During an annual fundraising campaign held at more than 1,100 of the convenience stores that Valero Energy Corp. operates in the United States, the company recently raised more than $1.2 million for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

“It's because of the hard work of our retail employees, and the tremendous generosity of our customers, that we had the most successful campaign in our company's history,” said Valero's chairman and CEO Bill Greehey. “We have a long history of supporting MDA, raising more than $8 million during the past 18 years, but this year's campaign truly demonstrates the special caring and sharing spirit that has made Valero the success it is today. We're excited about this year's record campaign, and proud to support such a worthy organization.”

During the “Share the Shamrock Spirit” campaign, held in March, customers could make a donation to MDA at any participating Diamond Shamrock, Ultramar, Valero or Beacon store, the company reported. For each donation, a paper shamrock featuring the name of the customer was displayed in the store.

All proceeds raised during the campaign were donated to MDA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing vital services and information to individuals affected by neuromuscular diseases. MDA also funds a summer camp for children battling neuromuscular diseases and supports research aimed at finding cures and treatments.
