DES MOINES, Iowa -- Valero Energy Corp. is making a big bet on this city. The petroleum giant opened two Des Moines locations in October and two more are on the way.
The just-opened sites represent Valero's first foray into Iowa. The San Antonio-based company operates in several other states however.
The convenience stores with Valero-branded gas stations opened last month at 3733 Easton Blvd. and 821 E. Euclid Ave. Pam Tedesco, manager of the locations, told the De Moines Register that a third will soon open at 2825 Easton Blvd. and a fourth will open later on at 4140 Park Ave. The stores are owned by New Midwest Rentals LLC.
Tedesco told the newspaper that the stations were originally built as Kum & Go locations. She added the new sites will be cleaned up and will be improvements to the neighborhood where they are located.
All four stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The gas stations/c-stores will sell beer and wine, but not hard liquor.
