Update: QuikTrip Sets Timeline for South Carolina Expansion

ANDERSON, S.C. -- QuikTrip's first South Carolina store will be located in Boiling Springs and is scheduled to open on October 8, according to an Anderson Independent Mail report. As of the most recent count, a total of seven new QuikTrip locations are currently under development in Anderson County, S.C.

The Tulsa, Okla.-based convenience store chain most recently reached a preliminary agreement to locate a large QuikTrip on the corner of North Main and Whitehall Road in Anderson, according to Bill Martin, president of Anderson's Pruitt Corp. QuikTrip is already seeking permits that include a beer and wine license, added Tim Heuback, director of store operations.

"Every indication is that everything is proceeding as planned," said Heubeck.

Other Anderson QuikTrip stores now in progress include locations at Clemson Boulevard, Greenville Street, and Liberty Highway at Interstate 85. The company is also looking at locations on the S.C. 28 Bypass near Whitehall Road, on Clemson Boulevard in Pendleton, and at I-85's Exit 40, according to the report.

QuikTrip is planning an ambitious schedule for the store openings. "Our first store in the Carolinas will open in Boiling Springs," Heuback said. "Right now, that's slated for Oct. 8; that's a pretty firm date. After that, we hope to open a store every three weeks."

Heubeck also stated that QuikTrip will accept applications for the new stores, all of which are non-franchise locations owned by the company, starting next month. "I think you will be pleased with us," he added. "Entry-level positions start at $40,000."
