TravelCenters of America to Install Fuel Island Manager Nationwide

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- TravelCenters of AmericaLLC (TA) agreed to purchase and install Fuel Island Manager at all of its U.S. locations. The system is distributed by Comdata Networks Inc., its exclusive marketer.

"Today's announcement is yet another example of the things TravelCenters of America is doing to help our customers drive efficiency," said TA's CEO Thomas M. O'Brien. "Fuel Island Manager's RFID capabilities will provide a faster, easier and more controlled transaction environment to the trucking industry across the U.S. Interstate Highway system."

Fuel Island Manager uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to initiate transactions at the fuel pump. RFID tags installed in vehicles will automatically activate according to trucking companies' specifications as professional drivers pull alongside fuel dispensers, allowing them to fill up with greater speed and efficiency. It also reduces the chance of unauthorized purchases, according to the announcement.

TA expects to begin installation of Fuel Island Manager at all its locations nationwide during 2012.
