Tom Thumb Adds Visa TravelMoney Card Offering
SAN FRANCISCO -- Visa TravelMoney cards are now available at Safeway stores nationwide, according a Sacramento Business Journal report.
"Consumers are opting for the convenience and flexibility of cards over travelers' checks," said Todd Brockman, senior vice president of prepaid products for the San Francisco card association.
NetSpend will market the reloadable prepaid travel cards and process transactions for the issuer, Inter National Bank, the report stated.
Safeway Inc. will sell Visa TravelMoney cards in its 1,500 stores that operate under the Safeway, Vons, Tom Thumb, Dominick's and other names. Safeway is the No. 2 grocer in the Sacramento area, with 31 stores as of Feb. 2006.
Safeway has met with success in selling a wide range of gift cards and other prepaid cards, usually along the checkout line.
