Thorntons Stars in Wish Campaign

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Thorntons Inc. is partnering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Kentucky Region to raise money for the foundation.

Beginning today, Thorntons customers can buy a Wish Star for $1 and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish, according to the company. This is the fourth year the convenience store chain is teaming with the foundation; since 2008, Thorntons has raised more than $40,000.

"We are very proud to partner with such a great organization as the Make-A-Wish Foundation," said Matt Thornton, president and chief executive officer of Thorntons. "We have seen an overwhelmingly positive response from our customers in regards to this program, and we are thrilled to serve as a vehicle for our customers to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation."

Thorntons has track record of giving back to the community. Last month company employees volunteered to sort and pack more than 12,000 pounds of canned goods and other items at the Dare to Care Food Bank in Louisville, as CSNews Online reported. And in December 2010, Thorntons donated $1 million to The Speed of Art Museum to fund the renovation and expansion of the museum's Louisville site.
