Thorntons Relaunches Gas Price Alert Program

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Thorntons Inc. relaunched its Gas Price Alert text program today with new and improved features hosted by GasBuddy and powered by OpenStore software. The newly revamped program also includes expanded market coverage for the convenience store chain's Midwest and Southeast customer base.

The updated program requires a one-time participant text to “55123” that includes a market code for the area in which the customer wishes to receive alerts. Customers will then receive text messages before fuel prices are set to increase at the pump, with an alert sent each time Thorntons is notified of a confirmed increase. A full list of market codes is available on Thorntons' website. Customers can also sign up by calling (866) 473-0017, pressing Option 4 and following the prompts.

Louisville, Ky.-based Thorntons operates 168 gas stations and c-stores, car washes and travel plazas in Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Florida.

“The Gas Price Alert texting program reinforces Thorntons’ consumer-friendly approach to providing the best value for our customers,” stated Thorntons President and CEO Matt Thornton. “It’s a significant money saver that allows them to receive the same ‘insider information’ we get when fuel prices fluctuate, and allows our customers time to grab a few gallons or fill up just prior to any price increase.”

The Thorntons/GasBuddy mobile app is available for download at the Apple App Store, Google Play, Windows Phone and Blackberry App World. All participants who previously signed up for Thorntons Gas Price Alert texts in its original format will be transferred to the new system.
