Thorntons Marking National Hot Dog Day With Discount Franks

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Thorntons Inc. plans to celebrate National Hot Day by offering 40-cent hot dogs at participating locations. The convenience store chain, based here, will be serving up the Ball Park franks this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The 40-cent price corresponds with the company celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

"It's summertime, when the fun never ends," said CEO and President Matt Thornton. "We love our customers and our customers love our fun-filled seasonal promotions, such as National Hot Dog Day."

Customers are limited to purchasing two frankfurters at a time.

National Hot Dog Day was created by the National Hot Dog Sausage Council. Special events taking place throughout the country on Saturday will include hot dog-eating contests, wiener dog races and more.
