Tax Partnership Aims to Ease Compliance Headaches for C-stores

BOERNE, Texas -- A new service aimed at streamlining the process of license compliance for convenience stores is being rolled out through a partnership of two tax consulting firms.

Morrison & Head, a property tax valuation and consulting firm, and Property Tax Compliance Resources (PTCR), specialists in multi-state tax compliance for retailers, have announced a joint service that manages tax and licensing compliance for convenience stores.

Because c-stores sell a wide variety of products, store owners need to hold a multitude of licenses. On top of occupancy permits, c-stores must be licensed to handle food, cigarettes and lottery tickets. Utilizing state-of-the-art license management software, the new service not only provides a workflow for license compliance, but also takes care of all pending filing and renewal deadlines to ensure 100 percent compliance.

"Coupled with our leading edge property tax compliance capabilities, our new license management service offers c-stores the extraordinary opportunity to reduce operating costs on two fronts," said Jim LeMaster, co-owner and senior consultant at PTCR. "According to a recent survey, 58 percent of retailers say that reducing these costs will stay at the top of their companywide agenda."
