Tampa Home to Asian C-store Association Convention

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Asian American Convenience Store Owners Association (AACSA) will hold its fifth annual convention here Nov. 21,2009.

The event will cover issues related to its members business and healthcare, according to the association, which was founded in 2005. The event also draws leaders of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) and Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA). The organization anticipates attracting more than 2,000 people including 1,600 store owners, 200 physicians, 100 pharmacists and 100 hotel owners, said AACSA event chairman Vijay Gandhi said in a statement.

Expected to attend are Florida Chief Financial Officer and candidate for Governor, Alex Sink, according to AACSA Chairman Chandrakant Patel. Other special guests will be Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia, who will inaugurate the AACSA trade show, visit exhibit booths, and perform Bollywood dances with six other dancers; and Ravi Drum of Hollywood will perform at noon, according to the organization. In addition, the conference will feature the 28th Miss India USA pageant, with contestants from approximately 28 states.

"It is our privilege to host the pageant, bringing beauty, convenience store owners and physicians together on one platform," Pageant Event Chairperson Swapna Shah said in a statement.
