Susser Provides Positive Update on Second Quarter

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Susser Holdings Corp. said yesterday it expects to report same-store merchandise sales growth of approximately 4.6 percent for the second quarter 2009 when it releases its full results in a few weeks. Retail average per-store fuel volumes for the quarter are also expected to increase 6.5 percent year over year, according to the convenience chain.

For the first six months of the year, Susser expects to report an increase in same-store merchandise sales of approximately 5.2 percent year over year, while retail average per-store fuel volumes for the first six months are expected to be 5.5 percent higher.

Susser will release its full second quarter 2009 results Aug. 5, before the market opens. In conjunction, the company scheduled a conference call that will be broadcast live over the Internet that same day at 11 a.m. eastern daylight time.

Susser Holdings Corp. operates more than 510 convenience stores in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma under the Stripes and Town & Country banners. Restaurant service is available in more than 290 of the stores, primarily under its proprietary Laredo Taco Company and Country Cookin' brands. The company also supplies branded motor fuel to approximately 370 independent dealers through its wholesale fuel division.
