Susser Holdings Previews Strong Second Quarter

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Previewing its second quarter operating results, Susser Holdings Corp. expects to report same-store merchandise sales growth of roughly 6.6 percent, the company stated.

The report noted retail average per-store fuel volumes are forecasted to be flat on a reported basis and down approximately 2.3 percent on a pro-forma basis. The latter comparisons reflect the combined results of Stripes and Town & Country stores under the premise that Susser acquired Town & Country Food Stores at the start of 2007.

Susser expects to report a spike in same-store merchandise sales of roughly 7.7 percent on a reported basis and 8.7 percent on a pro-forma basis. Retail average per-store fuel volumes are expected to be up 3.6 percent on a reported basis and up approximately 1.1 percent on a pro-forma basis. Over the last six months, Susser has opened seven retail stores and closed one, bringing its current retail store count to 510.

Susser will release its official second-quarter results Aug. 6, after the market closes.
