Stewart's Shops Selects PaySpot

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Stewart's Shops, operator of more than 300 convenience stores in upstate New York, signed a multi-year agreement with prepaid solution PaySpot Inc. to provide electronic prepaid products through the chain's existing Pinnacle's Palm point-of-sale (POS) system.

"PaySpot and Stewart's were brought together by the initial work that PaySpot was doing to become integrated with Pinnacle," Jamison Jaworski, vice president of sales for PaySpot, said in a statement. "It was clear to us that we could provide the needed prepaid suite of products to Stewart's through its existing POS system. We not only used our expertise in c-store sales to bring on a new entrant to the prepaid category, but we were able to utilize our IT expertise to be the first to integrate with the Pinnacle Palm POS."

The agreement is the first of its kind, as no other chain has integrated its Pinnacle Palm POS with the prepaid solution, according to the company.

With the agreement, PaySpot has also increased Stewart’s prepaid products, adding such items as long distance carriers' calling cards, including specialty cards and PaySpot's wireless suite of prepaid cards for more than 40 wireless carriers, the company stated.

The rollout of prepaid debit, prepaid gift, money transfer and bill payment features will follow the initial phase of the project, the company stated.

By integrating the prepaid system with the existing POS, employees can sell, recharge, refund and disable prepaid products directly from the POS, and eliminates the need for additional hardware and training, the company stated.
