Spurs Winning Streak Pours on the Coffee at Valero Stores

SAN ANTONIO -- Now, that's a lot of coffee. Valero Corner Store locations in San Antonio have made good on their promise to give away a free cup of coffee the morning after a San Antonio Spurs win in the NBA playoffs to the tune of 300,000 cups.

According to a report by WOAI, Valero's promotion has equaled an average of 200 cups per store, and it's enough to fill a small swimming pool. "Honestly, coffee is one of our big profit movers," Bill Day, executive director of media relations for Valero, told the news outlet. "We like people to come inside the store and buy stuff because, frankly, there's not much profit margin on the gas outside."

The Spurs have been hot this playoff season, racking up 10 straight wins. The team swept the Utah Jazz in four games in the first round. The Spurs repeated the feat by sweeping the Los Angeles Clippers in four games in the Western Conference semifinals, and the team is currently up two games in its Western Conference finals matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. If the Spurs defeat the Thunder, more free coffee could be on its way when the team takes on either the Miami Heat or Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.
