Spinx, Exxon Team with Bi-Lo to Offer Free Fuel
MAULDIN, S.C. -- In response to rising gas prices, Bi-Lo is partnering with Greenville, S.C.-based convenience store operator Spinx Co. and Irving, Texas-based ExxonMobil to offer Tank Tokens, which can be redeemed for free gas, reported Progressive Grocer, a CSNews sister publication.
The program launched last month. Through June 26, customers can earn free gas every time they shop at all Bi-Lo stores in the Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson, S.C., and Asheville, N.C. areas, the report stated.
When shoppers spend $35 or more, they receive one Tank Token. Ten Tank Tokens can be redeemed for a $25 Spinx Gift Card or a $25 Exxon Gift Card until July 3. There's no limit on the number of Tank Tokens that can be redeemed.
"In this partnership, Bi-Lo and Spinx will help shoppers stretch their budgets on two of the essential purchases families make every week: food and gasoline," Spinx president and CEO Stewart Spinks said in a statement.
"We feel this is a great way to reward our loyal customers and help everyone deal with the challenges of rising gas prices," added Tye Anthony, Bi-Lo executive vice president of marketing and merchandising. "Gas prices have become a dinner topic in more and more households, and as oil prices continue to rise, it is often a major consideration in a family's budget."
Bi-Lo operates about 230 supermarkets in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. Spinx has more than 78 convenience stores and supplies another 25 with gasoline in North and South Carolina, according to the Progressive Grocer report.
