    Speedway Finalizes Acquisition of GasAmerica

The purchase of the 87-store chain was first announced in February.

ENON, Ohio -- Speedway LLC has finalized all closing-related activities related to its purchase of GasAmerica Services Inc. The transaction includes 87 retail locations.

"It is an exciting time at Speedway and we are thrilled to be gaining such great people and adding these locations to our existing portfolio. We are looking forward to serving the communities surrounding these stores and fulfilling our commitment to meet our customers' fueling and convenience needs. The tremendous effort by both the GasAmerica and Speedway teams provided for a very smooth and efficient operational transition," said Speedway President Tony Kenney.

The acquisition, first announced in February, means less competition in Indiana, where the majority of the GasAmerica sites operate. This could increase fuel prices in the state, according to GasBuddy.com.

Speedway, a division of Marathon Petroleum Corp. and Harris Poll's Convenience Store Brand of the Year, operates approximately 1,460 locations in seven Midwestern states.
