    Shell Marketers Association Names Interim Exec Director

    New leader Jennifer Richards will continue to run the organization' day-to-day operations.

    WASHINGTON -- Following the May 15, departure of the National Association of Shell Marketers (NASM) President Darrell K. Smith, the organization named Jennifer Richards interim executive director. Richards has worked at NASM since 2004, and will continue to run the group's day-to-day operations, according to the association.

    After two and a half years of service, Smith planned to return to his previous employer, the Industrial Minerals Association—North America and the National Industrial Sand Association, as executive vice president.

    Meanwhile, Tom West, former president of NASM, will work with NASM in an advisory capacity during the next few months. West was also president of NASM predecessor organizations the National Association of Texaco & Shell Marketers and the National Association of Texaco Wholesalers.

    The NASM board of directors will meet at a later date to formalize the future direction of the group.
