Sheetz Reaches Milestone of 60 Stores in North Carolina

ELKIN and GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Sheetz Convenience Restaurants solidified its North Carolina presence by opening two new stores today and reaching a milestone of 60 within the state. Executive Vice President of Operations Travis Sheetz attended the two grand openings along with town and county officials.

The first opening event took place at 401 CC Camp Road in Elkin at 11 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. event in Goldsboro. The new stores, at 6,500- and 6,400-square-feet respectively, are both expected to create 40 to 45 new full- and part-time jobs and add $3.5 million in taxable property value to the city and county tax base, Sheetz said.

"We are committed to opening several more locations across North Carolina this year," said President and CEO Joe S. Sheetz. "It's been a great area of growth for Sheetz and is a big area of focus for our company's future."

Joe Sheetz added that local residents have shown support at existing Sheetz stores, and the company plans to continue building loyalty in the area.

The grand-opening celebrations included games and opportunities for customers to win dozens of prizes. A longtime supporter of the Special Olympics, Sheetz made a $2,500 donation to Special Olympics North Carolina as part of the festivities.

"We try to make all of our openings fun for everyone with local officials participating and lots of activities, games and samples of Sheetz food and beverages," Joe Sheetz added.

The new stores will operate 24 hours a day and offer Sheetz' Made-To-Order items, Sheetz Bros. Coffeez and the M-T-Go! and Shweetz Bakery lines of sandwiches, wraps, doughnuts and muffins. The Goldsboro store also features a drive-thru window.

Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz Inc. now operates 466 locations throughout Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and West Virginia.
