Sheetz Inks Credit and Debit Authorization Deal

Agreement with National Processing Co. covers multiple types of electronic payments.

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc., operator of 290 convenience stores in five Mid-Atlantic states yesterday inked a multi-year credit and debit card processing agreement with Louisville, Ky.-based National Processing Co. LLC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, NPC will provide authorization and settlement services for all credit and debit card transactions accepted at Sheetz convenience stores.

"Our stores offer quality food and petroleum products in a fast and convenient quick service environment," said Rich Steckroth, new business development manager of Sheetz. "We invest in the technology which allows our customers to quickly order and pay for the Made-to-Order menu items and petroleum products they choose. NPC's merchant processing solution supports the multiple types of electronic payments our customers demand and fits right in with our existing payments platform. We look forward to realizing additional benefits from choosing a processor like NPC, who has earned a strong voice and reputation among the card associations and the petroleum industry."

National Processing supports more than 700,000 Visa and MasterCard merchant locations, or nearly one out of every five transactions on the system nationally, the company said.
