Sheetz to Hold Job Fair for Commissary

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz, Inc., operator of 340 convenience stores based here, will host a job fair to recruit employees for jobs at its Sheetz Bros. Kitchen, a commissary that is currently under construction, the company said.

The fair -- held at the Sheetz Distribution Center, located in Claysburg, Pa., on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- will feature an information session for people interested in jobs at the Sheetz Bros. Kitchen, the company stated.

"We're really excited about this project and want people to come learn what Sheetz Bros. Kitchen is all about," Stan Sheetz, president and CEO of Sheetz, said in a statement. "It's an informational session where people can learn about the kitchen and what kinds of job opportunities are available."

More than 350 positions will be filled. The majority of open positions at the facility include bakery production, ready-to-eat production and delivery drivers, the company stated. Other available jobs include driver supervisors, quality assurance, maintenance, dispatchers, cafeteria staff and computer technicians. Applications for the positions will be available at the job fair.

Starting salaries for all positions at the facility are well above minimum wage, and most will be full time, according to the company. In addition, full-time positions are eligible for a complete medical benefits package, 401k plan, employee stock ownership program and quarterly bonus, the company stated.

"This project is not only going to be good for Sheetz, but good for the Altoona Blair County Community because it's making new job opportunities for people in this region," Sheetz added. "I've said this before, we started this business in Altoona and have always been proud of that fact. We're happy to continue growing and expanding in our hometown community."

Because Sheetz Bros. Kitchen will operate seven days a week, a wide variety of positions and schedules will be available. More than 350 jobs will be filled. Applications for all positions will be available at the job fair.
The Sheetz Bros. Kitchen, which is anticipated to be operational in the fall of 2008, will feature 140,000 square feet of kitchen space that will make the chain's fresh food products seven days a week and ship them daily to all Sheetz locations, according to the company.
