    Sheetz Debuts in Sarver, Pa.

Chain opens its 339th store yesterday with a donation to the local high school.

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz, Inc., operator of 339 convenience stores, opened its long awaited store in Sarver, Pa., yesterday.

The latest addition is the first Sheetz in the city. While the store opened to the public yesterday, a grand opening celebration will be hosted by employees on Oct. 18, complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3:30 p.m.

"It's exciting for us at Sheetz any time we are able to bring our latest concepts in convenience to a new area," Louie Sheetz, executive vice president of marketing for Sheetz, said in a statement. "We are looking forward to being a part of the Sarver community, and we're glad to be a neighbor to the Freeport High School. We want to support the students in as many ways as we can."

As part of the festivities, Sheetz will make a donation to Freeport Senior High School, which is located adjacent to the new Sheetz store, the company stated. The donated funds will add to a scholarship fund for graduating high school students.

The store will offer a new menu featuring a variety of fresh made-to-order items, including cold and toasted subs and freshly made salads, along with hot fries, onion rings, chicken fingers and burgers at low prices, the company stated.

Also present in the new store is the company's Sheetz Bros. Coffeez, a full-service espresso bar staffed by a trained barista. Customers can order lattes, cappuccinos and mochas in a variety of ways -- hot, frozen or iced -- through the coffee bar. In addition, frozen fruit smoothies can be purchased at the Sheetz Bros. Coffeez. Customers can also serve themselves with the chain’s new premium brewed coffees made from 100 percent Arabica beans, in flavors such as Breakfast Blend, Serious Dark Roast, 100-percent Colombian and Vanilla Nut Cream, the company stated.

Self-serve milkshakes and self-serve bakery items are also available at the new store. Like other Sheetz stores, customers place their food and specialty coffee orders at touch-screen order kiosks.

A full-service automatic carwash is also featured at the Sarver, Pa., store.
