Rutter's Named Pennsylvania Convenience Store of the Year

YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Farm Stores was named Pennsylvania's Convenience Store of the Year for 2013 by the Griffin Report of Food Marketing. The all-channel trade publication's annual awards recognize convenience store and supermarkets for operational excellence and trendsetting innovation in their geographical operating area.

Rutter's was selected as this year's top winner in the state due to a number of factors, including its ability to adapt to the changing times throughout more than nine decades of family ownership; its embrace of steady change and growth; its dynamic and pacesetting foodservice program; and its resounding commitment to the local community, which has included more than $2 million in charitable donations over the last seven years.

"It's really a thrill to be recognized as the best in Pennsylvania since the Mid-Atlantic region, and Pennsylvania especially, is full of very strong, top-tier competition," said Derek Gaskins, Rutter's chief customer officer. "Our team works hard every day and we're all really proud of this accomplishment."

This is not the first award Rutter's has earned this year. The c-store chain appeared on several lists honoring outstanding Pennsylvania-based companies in August, as CSNews Online previously reported.

Family-owned Rutter's operates 58 c-stores throughout central Pennsylvania.
