    Royal Buying Group Handles Shell Global Gift Card Marketing

    Starting in January, prepaid cards will be managed through buying group's Royal Performance Group division.

    HINSDALE, Ill. -- Royal Buying Group, Inc. (RBG), a national organization that handles sales and marketing for more than 5,500 c-stores and 1,300 operators, signed a venture that will allow it to be the marketing and fulfillment service provider of Shell gift cards.

    "The Shell Gift Card Program will be the premier fuel offering of our card management services division the Royal Performance Group," said Thomas Gilbert, RBG's vice president of sales and marketing. "We look forward to expanding this program throughout the various purchasing channels in the United States, as well as establishing the Shell Gift Card as the preferred fuel gift card choice globally."

    The agreement, which was effective Nov. 1, allows RBG to provide sales, marketing and fulfillment services to corporate and consumer populations in the U.S. Fulfillment services to Shell's retail locations will begin Jan. 1.

    "The concept of a stored value card and its use as a financial transaction engine continues to grow in popularity and consumer acceptance," said Michael Zielinski, RBG president and CEO.
