    Ricker Petro Marts Hits Jackpot With Pinnacle

    Technology firm upgrades lottery software for improved tracking of sales.

    Pinnacle Corp. upgraded its Oasis Manager Workstation Lottery Center to make it easier for convenience store managers to track lottery inventory, sales and the winners of instant lottery tickets.

    The Lottery Center tracks winners of instant lottery tickets and lottery inventory by book for each game. Managers can maintain and reconcile lottery inventories and analyze sales, allowing stores to accurately track inventory and identify missing instant tickets.

    The tracking of lottery enables inventory to be reconciled by game and by dollar amount. The system captures and accumulates lottery sales, winnings, and inventory on a daily basis, and can access historical data for several weeks. It also provides reporting on inventory and performance of lottery as a category, and compares the performance of different games. The Oasis Manager Workstation Lottery Center helps flag likely errors and fraud, so managers can catch small problems before they become bigger problems

    The new module has already received high marks from Ricker Petro Marts Inc., a 29-store chain in Anderson, Ind.

    "The lottery is very labor-intensive for stores," said Patti Safford, Ricker's manager of information services. "We had to find the easiest and most reliable way to track the lottery each day, so if we had problems we could catch them immediately. The biggest benefit has been the ease of learning to use it, and being able to monitor people on a daily basis."
