RaceTrac to Offer Variety of Prepaid Gift Cards Chainwide

ATLANTA, Ga. -- RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. formed an agreement with prepaid payment provider Blackhawk Network Inc. to offer gift cards at its convenience stores starting this fall. Blackhawk's selection includes prepaid cards for retailers such as Applebee's, GameStop and Staples, as well as major telecom providers such as Verizon, Tracfone, T-Mobile and Net10.

"Many consumers who either spend considerable time on the road or live in urban areas have easier access to convenience stores than to full-feature grocery stores," said Bryan Haynes, Blackhawk Network’s group vice president of business development. "This partnership gives RaceTrac customers the ability to shop conveniently for prepaid products while they're traveling or are simply out and about."

This agreement includes open-loop gift cards, as well as general-purpose reloadable debit cards, and expands the card offerings many RaceTrac stores already had in place.

"At RaceTrac, our mission is to make people's lives simpler and more enjoyable," said Robby Posener, vice president of merchandising, design and construction for RaceTrac. "Offering our guests a wider variety of prepaid cards is one way we deliver on that mission as we strive to continue being their convenience store of choice."

Atlanta-based RaceTrac operates more than 365 locations in Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Texas.
